Chapter 2 - Fabricating the Tail
Section 1 - Post Curing the Horizontal Stab
Post Curing
is performed in a home made oven. Here one is made from sheets of 1/2"
polystyrene foam.
The heat source is a heat gun used for stripping paint set on low. A fan
is located in the rear to keep the air moving and a meat thermometer is
used to maintain proper temperature. We are looking for about 150 degrees
F for four hours.
The clamp is used as part of the support structure for the part. The epoxy
will go soft during the post cure so insure the part being cured is fixtured
to maintain its shape.
A fan is used to move the air around.
The hot air gun is simply mounted.
An ordinary meat thermometer is used.
